I live in South Windsor, NSW, Australia. I am married with a single teenage son.
I have started my own freelance indexing/editing/proofreading business called “WordClass Indexing & Editing”, after being made redundant from my full-time indexing job of 21 years in September 2011. I enjoy not having to drive to work each day!
Thanks for the follow and the comment on my recent article! I look forward to sharing ideas with you!

Hi Graham.
Nice of you to create a blog about us.
Just a couple of points…… your first picture shows the car with a Morand Chevrolet engine in the back and was taken in 1973, not 1971. Also, the strange German Grand Prix picture was from the paddock not the pits – they never let us get anywhere near the pits!
As far as Tony Trimmer damaging the chassis beyond repair…. that can’t be right because I have recently repaired the dent so that we can rebuild the car to show at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this summer.
I hope you aren’t offended by my comments. They are not meant to belittle your efforts.
If you would like any more info please feel free to contact me.
All the best,

Graham,
Hi. I have written a book on Australian military history and have included a section on the Australian Volunteer Car Corps. I would like to use one of the photos that you have used in your blog but need to get the attribution correct. Could you please contact me ASP on phil_rutherford@ozemail.com.au to discuss.

Hello Graham. For the past several years I have been researching the Whirlpool VC story. The resultant book, ‘Frederick Whirlpool VC – Australia’s Hidden Victoria Cross’, Big Sky Publishing, Sydney (2018) has just been published. It will be launched at the Hawkesbury Regional Museum at 2pm Sunday October 7, 2018 by Susan Templeman MP. I will be giving a talk there, taking questions and signing books.
In the meantime, I have summarised my findings (very briefly) in a Wikipedia update, which you might find helpful for your own site – I hope so. And – one day we might see a proper memorial to Whirlpool in the South Windsor cemetery. Link: http://www.bigskypublishing.com.au Best regards . Alan Leek

Yes, it’ll be good to meet. Sorry about the Mr. in my first message – automatic gap filler I think. I can understand your interest in Whirlpool as you live so near to his resting place – mystery that it is. Talk then, Alan

Graham. My update of the Wikipedia site I mentioned took me half a day at 3,000 words, then they took it down and scolded me for not doing it properly. Who reads the instructions? As a result their entry remains erroneous – their problem. Regards . Alan Leek

Hi Graham,
I just read your article about Patanela. It’s funny that they never figured it out. I’m pretty sure she sailed back to the Southern Ocean the night she disappeared. Probably with just John and Calvin (Dick) aboard. I knew these two very well when Kennedy Miller made Dead Calm in the Whitsundays.
Alan Nicol learnt the truth about them when it was too late. I had many lunches together with Alan in Freemantle. I don’t know if their parents are still alive as it’s best that they are remembered fondly.

Hi Graham,
I’m an English teacher and proofreader, also called Graham.
The name of the schooner is Patanela. You’ve misspelled it a dozen times in your text, mostly as Panatela, which is a type of cigar, with two “l”s.
Hope this helps.

Graham,
Thank you – what’s the old axiom – get another pair of eyes to look at your work, as they pick up things you don’t “see”. Have corrected the spelling in the post.
